The 36th National and the 3rd International Geosciences Congress
Tehran, Iran


The 36th National and the 3rd International Geological Congress of Iran will be held in Tehran, 25th to 27th February 2018. This is a well-established event with more than three decades national meeting being organized by Geological Survey of Iran (GSI) every year since 1982. The congress covers all aspects of earth sciences regional to local scale studies, and deep process to surface features, as well as human and earth interaction through mining or dealing with natural hazards. The congress aims to bring together leading academic scientist and researchers and share their experience and new research results with others.  The congress provides also an opportunity to visit natural beauties and geological attractions of Iran along with unique civilization which offers visitors a distinct charm of oriental traditions.

We, therefore, kindly invite authors to contribute to the congress through submission of their papers, abstract and attend this significant event.

Registration Fee:

Registration fee cover airport transfer, congress package, catering during congress (lunch and snack). It does not cover accommodation and travel your home country to Iran.

Passports and Visas:

Foreign visitor entering Iran must have a valid passport. Applicants should notify organizing committee and Int\'l Affairs Department of GSI in advance. Moreover, it is required to fulfill visa form and send copy of passport to secretariat (E-mail: Please be aware that visa applications may take as long as three weeks the time your completed application is submitted to secretariat of congress. Our colleagues in Int\'l Affairs will follow the process to obtain Visa Authorization Number for congress delegates Foreign Ministry of Iran.

Currency Exchange:

Iranian Rial (IRR) is acceptable as currency at stores and restaurants. You may exchange money at the airport or hotel. Please note that none of the Credit Cards could be used in Iran.

Time Zone Information:

The time zone of Iran is UTC 3:30, local time is the same throughout Iran.


Typical weather condition of Tehran at February is cold or moderate and temperature might vary 0 to 15°C, therefore wearing warm cloths is suggested. Additionally, at this time, precipitation is expected.



Members of organizing committee will arrange accommodation for participant during congress date. If you would like to book room in a hotel via the secretariat, please let us know details of your arrival, departure, room type etc. in advance. More details about accommodation, like hotel names, address, price will be announced on 28th February.

There are numerous geoheritage sites and geological attractions and phenomenon in Iran. We encourage congress attendees to participate in field trip through Iran.
